SILVA SET FOR SURGERY
Silva - ankle trouble.
Valencia winger David Silva is set for a frustrating spell on the sidelines after suffering an ankle injury.
The Spain international picked up the knock during Los Che's opening match of the new Primera Liga season against Real Mallorca.
The club's medical staff had hoped that the swelling around the problem would reduce if given plenty of rest, but that has not proved to be the case.
As a result, the 22-year-old must now go under the knife in an attempt to rectify the issue.
The operation is set to take place this week, but it remains unclear how long the playmaker will be out of action.
Early estimations suggest a timescale of between two and three months should be enough for his rehabilitation to be completed.
Doctors have decided to take decisive action with the injury at this point to avoid a repeat of the situation which saw Silva's fellow winger at Valencia, Vicente, suffer recurring ankle problems as a result of not taking the option of surgery.
