MORIENTES EYES VALENCIA EXIT
Morientes - is likely to leave Valencia.
Valencia striker Fernando Morientes has revealed he is likely to quit the club at the end of the season.
The 32-year-old was linked with a move away from Los Che in the summer but opted not to join Galatasaray at the 11th hour because of personal reasons.
He is resigned to being a bit-part player at the Mestalla this campaign, but insists he will continue to work hard.
"This will probably, almost certainly, be my last year at Valencia," Morientes told AS.
"But I'll continue to work with professionalism to do my bit on the pitch which is what is demanded of all of us here.
"The offer to play in the Turkish league was good for me and the club. In fact Valencia reached an agreement with the other team, which signified that they didn't mind me negotiating with them and going.
"That was what I did. The offers were pleasing in theory and very good but when I asked for guarantees it was different.
"I understand that I'm 32 and that the possibility to get three or four million euros for me was very good. However, my family didn't want to go."
Morientes enjoyed a prolific first season when he joined Valencia in 2006, but injuries plagued him in the second half of last season.
The former Liverpool and Real Madrid forward appreciates he is now behind Euro 2008 winners David Villa and David Silva in the pecking order and knows he will spend a lot of time on the bench.
"They're the two best strikers in Spain," added Morientes. "I know what the situation is, I won't create any problems because I never have.
"I'll accept my role as a substitute and I'll try to do the best possible when given my chance."
