GARCIA REJECTS TARGET TALK

Garcia - no goals target.

Spain striker Sergio Garcia is refusing to set himself a goals target for the season after returning to the Primera Liga with Real Betis.

Garcia was presented by Betis on Wednesday following his 11th-hour move from Segunda Division Real Zaragoza on transfer deadline day, a switch that cost the Seville club in the region of 10million euros.

Last season Betis had just one player reach double figures in league scoring, with Edu netting 12 times, but Garcia is making no promises about how many goals he might bring to the team.

"I never set myself a target of the number of goals I could score," said the 25-year-old, who despite only netting four times for relegated Zaragoza last time out still earned a spot in Spain's successful Euro 2008 squad.

"The important thing is always the team and if I can score and it also brings a victory then I will be happy.

"All of us who play up front have our responsibilities and I will try to be someone else who gives joy to the fans."

Garcia may have found goals hard to come by last season, but he provided useful support to Zaragoza's two frontline forwards Diego Milito and Ricardo Oliveira, who between them struck 32 times in La Liga.

It remains to be seen in what position Garcia plays at Betis, but the former Barcelona youth player insists he is happy to play wherever he is asked to.

"It's the same to me where I play - on the right, on the left or up front. I feel very comfortable and where the coach tells me to play will be okay with me," Garcia said.
