MENEZ REVEALS ROMA INTEREST

Menez - wanted by Roma.

Monaco youngster Jeremy Menez has revealed that Serie A giants Roma are interested in taking him to the Stadio Olimpico next season.

Menez, a France Under-21 international, has been linked with a move to the Italian capital since Roma coach Luciano Spalletti highlighted him as a target at the beginning of August.

The Monaco playmaker revealed to French website Football 365 that contact had been made between the Italian club and his agent, but as yet no offer had been made.

"It's true Roma are getting close to me. They have already spoken to my agent. I'm waiting now to see how the situation develops," he said.

"Roma are one of the best clubs in Europe, it's nice that my name is being associated with the Giallorossi.

"It would be a great opportunity but at the moment there is nothing concrete."

Menez recently underwent groin surgery and was forced to watch from the sidelines as Monaco got their Ligue 1 campaign off to a winning start against Paris St Germain last weekend.

He expects to be back to full fitness before the end of the month, and admits he does not know which club he will be playing for when he returns.

"I don't know if the president will want to let me go. I haven't spoken with him. I don't know his position," he continued.

"We'll see. For the moment I'm focusing on the new season with Monaco. This year I want to figure in the national team."
