VIEIRA JOINS INTER INJURY LIST
Vieira - groin injury.
Inter Milan suffered another injury setback on Thursday with Patrick Vieira sustaining a groin injury in training.
The France captain, who made just 16 Serie A appearances in an injury-ravaged 2007/08 season, is now in danger of missing the start of the new campaign.
He was also forced out of Euro 2008 with an injury similar to the one he has currently.
"It is an unfortunate period for me but I am not giving up," said Vieira on the club's official website.
"I am disappointed because everything was going so well but obviously when bad fortune comes your way there is little you can do.
"Nevertheless, I remain optimistic and I will do everything possible to be available for the start of the season.
"In addition to my aim of winning many trophies this coming season, I also hope to overcome this bad luck."
Vieira's fitness is a further worry for Inter coach Jose Mourinho as the three-time Italian champions have endured an injury hit summer.
Mourinho is now expected to dip into the transfer market after seeing defensive quartet Marco Materazzi, Ivan Cordoba, Walter Samuel and Cristian Chivu all succumb to injury.
