The Brazilian forward was rested for the Carling Cup defeat at Brighton but returns to the team as Hughes makes five changes from the side which were eliminated on penalties in midweek. Robinho, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Javier Garrido, Micah Richards and Joe Hart come in for Michael Ball, Tal Ben Haim, Michael Johnson, Daniel Sturridge and Kasper Schmeichel. Wigan boss Steve Bruce makes two changes to the side which ran out 4-1 winners at Ipswich. Midfielders Kevin Kilbane and Paul Scharner are on the bench with Maynor Figueroa and captain Mario Melchiot restored to the starting line-up.
