'BARRY TO PUSH FOR LIVERPOOL MOVE'

'BARRY TO PUSH FOR LIVERPOOL MOVE'

Gareth Barry will reportedly still push for a move to Liverpool, despite Aston Villa claiming on Wednesday a deadline for the deal had passed.

The Guardian reports that Barry will try and force through a move, and is upset with Villa for insisting that he will not be moving, although both player and agent did consent to the cut-off point.

However, Liverpool reportedly claim they did not agree to any such deadline, and in fact met Villa's valuation for the Barry, and it was simply the structure of the payments that was unacceptable. The Guardian claims Villa changed the structure of the deal 24 hours before the deadline, and Liverpool missed the cut-off point by minutes after returning to their bank for approval of the deal.

Barry is 'unwavering' in his desire to leave Villa Park, and the paper claims he will reiterate this to manager Martin O'Neill and owner Randy Lerner in the coming days, although he is unlikely to hand in an official transfer request.

The Daily Mail claims that a deal could go through as early as the coming weekend, and that Barry has already found a house close to Liverpool's Melwood training ground.

Liverpool still have to sell to finance the deal, and an expected bid of around £5million from Blackburn for Jermaine Pennant could set things on their way.
