HALFORD NEARLY MADE ADDICKS SWITCH
Greg Halford - nearly joined Charlton.
Greg Halford has revealed he was close to rejoining Charlton over the summer before eventually signing for Sheffield United.
The Sunderland defender spent four months on loan with Charlton last season, but returns to The Valley as a Blades player this weekend.
"I was pretty happy with how I performed at Charlton," he told the South London Press.
"I was a bit rusty at times and I had some dips in form but I scored a couple of goals and felt I did okay.
"While we didn't end the season particularly well, I still loved my time there and I wanted to go back again this summer.
"I was meant to return on a season-long loan but for one reason or another it didn't happen and I was quite gutted. However, Sheffield United then came in for me and it has worked out pretty well."
