SANTA CRUZ ANGLING FOR CITY MOVE

Santa Cruz - Robinho fan.

Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz has admitted he would relish the opportunity to link up with Mark Hughes and Robinho at Manchester City.

The 27-year-old was brought to Ewood Park by Hughes during the Welshman's time as Rovers boss, which came to an end when he left for Eastlands in the summer.

City's subsequent takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group has left Hughes with huge spending power, highlighted by the £32.5million signing of Robinho on the final day of the last transfer window.

The Brazil star's arrival from Real Madrid followed Hughes' unsuccessful attempts to sign Santa Cruz, although he is widely expected to try again in January.

And the Paraguayan admits he would jump at the chance of a reunion with his former boss.

"Manchester City is a team that has a very important financial support that is getting prepared for winning the title," Santa Cruz told Primero de Marzo, a radio station in his homeland.

"I am very happy at Blackburn but I like the idea of playing for a team that will be fighting for important objectives.

"I will keep on doing what I do at Blackburn but if the coach of Manchester City is interested in me, I would like to join Robinho in that team. He is a wonderful player and I would like to play next to him."
