DIABY THE KEY IN RONALDO DEAL
Don't get excited Gooners - you're not in the race for Cristiano.
The unlikely and clumsy figure of Abou Diaby could well prove to be pivotal in Real Madrid's pursuit of Ronaldo, after he crocked Wesley Sneijder yesterday.
More on that one here.
WHO IS THE EXPERIENCED MIDFIELDER ARSENE WANTS?
Interesting word this morning about this mystery experienced midfielder that Arsene Wenger would like to sign.
Rumour was that they were going to nip in and sign Gareth Barry while Liverpool dithered, but it seems that won't be happening now.
Wenger rather curiously said: "I don't know if Gareth Barry will leave Aston Villa or not, but I am not on his case."
More details on that one here.
However, the man in question might be Xabi Alonso. You want details do you? Go here then.
IT JUST GETS WORSE FOR EVERTON
It's been a grim summer for Everton and the latest news isn't particularly good either.
According to The Daily Mail, Fulham have reduced their bid for Andy Johnson by £4m to £8m after they detected a knee injury when the striker underwent a medical at Craven Cottage last week.
'They are unwilling to pay any more than £8m now, with Everton under pressure to accept the new terms or risk the transfer collapsing. It is a huge blow for the Merseysiders as they try to find ways of funding an £18m deal for Sporting Lisbon's Joao Moutinho,' the newspaper reports.
Furthermore, The Daily Express suggests that will be that for Johnson, as Moyes will insist Fulham stump up the original agreed price or the player will return to Goodison Park, knacked knee and all.
Moyes was also hoping to take Moutinho's Portugal team-mate Tiago on loan from Juve but the player's former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is ready to offer him the chance to join Inter Milan.
POMPEY TO SIGN TWO DEFENDERS
The Sun says that Portsmouth will sign both Younes Kaboul and Nicky Shorey this week for a combined fee of around £9m.
The Spurs centre-half has rejected offers from Sunderland and Aston Villa and is poised to make a £5m move to the south coast. Villa were also thought to be interested in signing Shorey, but Pompey are now at the front of the queue after agreeing a deal with Reading that is worth £3.5m rising to £5m with add-ons.
KEANO SHOWS HIS IMAGINATION AGAIN
Meanwhile, The Daily Mail reckons that Roy Keane's failure to sign Kaboul will prompt him to make another attempt to sign Jonny Evans from Manchester United.
'Evans has had two loan spells at the Stadium of Light and Keane hopes an offer of £6million plus add-ons may persuade Sir Alex Ferguson to sell,' the newspaper announces.
SPARKY WANTS CISSE ON LOAN
Word in The Daily Mirror this morning is that Mark Hughes, in desperate need of a striker at Manchester City, will bring in Djibril Cisse from Marseille.
It will be a loan move for Cisse, still of course Lord of the Manor of Frodsham. Presumably his sheep need tending to or something.
