HODGKISS JOINS ABERDEEN

Calderwood - pleased with new signing.

Aberdeen have signed West Brom defender Jared Hodgkiss on loan until January.

The 21-year-old, who usually plays right-back, has made only sporadic appearances for the Baggies first team in recent seasons and has yet to feature for them this term.

His sole Premier League appearance came as a substitute at the end of the relegation campaign of 2005-06.

Hodgkiss' signing signals the end of Alan Maybury's hopes of returning to Pittodrie, with manager Jimmy Calderwood confirming the deal was dead.

Calderwood also revealed today that he hoped to make at least two more signings before Saturday's Clydesdale Bank Premier League trip to St Mirren.

Calderwood was please with Hodgkiss' capture, telling the Evening Express: "Jared came in today and we have had a good look at him.

"He is a a promising player who will go straight into the squad for Saturday's match against St Mirren."
