SAINTS COMPLETE TONET DEAL
MacPherson - happy with signing.
St Mirren have signed Spanish midfielder Antonio Guerao Mayoral Tonet following a successful trial.
The 29-year-old came through the youth ranks with Barcelona and joins from CE L'Hospitalet, who play in the fourth tier of Spanish football.
St Mirren boss Gus MacPherson said: "As everyone knows, he has spent a fair part of the pre-season with us and he appears to be technically a very good player.
"He always looks to be comfortable while in possession of the ball and he has good energy levels as he gets up and down the park well.
"He is a naturally left-sided player who is more than decent in the air so I'm sure he will be a good addition to the squad."
MacPherson, whose team face Celtic away in their Clydesdale Bank Premier League opener on Sunday, admitted he could bring in a few more faces before the season kicks off.
"I reckon we probably need to bring another player in so we are still looking to add to our squad," he added.
"I don't think we will add to the squad before our game against Celtic but you never know and August 31 is still a bit away yet."
MacPherson is still waiting to discover whether Craig Dargo and Andy Dorman will be fit for Celtic Park after they were taken off injured during Saturday's 1-0 win at Darlington.
Key midfielder Dorman suffered a back injury while striker Dargo twisted his ankle.
"We have no real update on the status of the injuries with Craig and Andy but we should have a clearer picture by tomorrow," MacPherson told www.saintmirren.net.
"I would say that they don't look too serious - my one wee worry is that they were both non contact injuries.
"It will probably be later in the week before we know if they will be involved in our game against Celtic next Sunday."
