Norwich manager Glenn Roeder has confirmed that he made an attempt to re-sign Manchester City striker Ched Evans on loan before the transfer deadline on Monday night.
Evans scored 10 goals at Carrow Road last season and has featured for City this term, but the young Welshman has fallen down the pecking order with the record £32.5million signing of Brazilian Robinho.
Roeder said: "I asked the question and was politely told absolutely no.
"There is evidently a chance he might go out as an emergency loan sometime during the year. All I can say is I've asked to be kept informed.
"I would love the opportunity to have him back here but I fully understand Mark Hughes wanting to keep him. No doubt there's a little bit of the Welsh connection in that."
