SHEARD: OWLS TAKEOVER IMMINENT
Sheffield Wednesday's prospective new chairman Geoff Sheard is optimistic his takeover of the club will be concluded by the end of the week.
The Lancashire-based businessman revealed that funds are now available to buy a 29.9% stake in the club with money from one English and one German investor.
After over eight months of takeover wrangling, which has seen revelations of club debt of over £20 million, Sheard now feels the deal will be completed soon.
"It's a matter of days away - I'm hoping we're done this week," he told the Yorkshire Post.
"We want to stabilise the club first and then get it back to its former glories.
"There's no fixed timescale, but we don't want to see the club fumbling round the bottom of the Championship and we have to get the building blocks in place to make sure that doesn't happen."
