PILGRIMS BOSS EXPECTS MORE PROGRESS
Sturrock - hoping for new faces.
Plymouth boss Paul Sturrock revealed he is still hoping to sign three more players after the 2-2 draw with Wolves at Home Park.
Argyle impressed as they twice took the lead through Rory Fallon and Marcel Seip, only for them to be denied victory by equalisers from Michael Kightly and Sam Vokes.
Sturrock, who handed debuts to four new signings, vowed to continue rebuilding his squad.
He said: "From crowd to players to management and directors at Plymouth there was an apprehension with the changeover in personnel we have had to have over the past 18 months.
"We are short, I still think there are two or three players we need to really put an edge to us. But I would rather be in that position at this minute in time and have that bonus that we are going to bring in two or three more players.
"Managers before me have had the great backbone of the old guard but now we are having to rebuild from scratch and it takes time for that transition to kick in."
Sturrock included new signing Simon Walton in midfield and his former QPR team-mate Chris Barker at left-back as well as summer signing Graham Stack, from Reading, in goal and former Colchester captain Karl Duguid at right-back.
Stack, on loan at Wolves last season, was impressive after unfancied Argyle strode into a 2-1 lead but could do nothing about a superb late leveller, swept home by substitute Vokes in the 78th minute - seconds after his inspired introduction.
Vokes collected a slick one-two from fellow substitute Chris Iwelumo before sweeping the ball past Stack, who had made a handful of second-half saves as Wolves poured forward with the sweeping rain at their backs.
Argyle target man Rory Fallon had fired Plymouth ahead after seven minutes from Stack's wind-assisted down-field clearance, needing just one touch with his left foot to loop the ball over Wolves goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey.
Man of the match Kightly replied, steering his volley home at the far post in the 19th minute from Kevin Foley's right-wing cross.
Argyle regained the lead in the 56th minute when central defender Seip hooked the ball home from six yards as it fell after Chris Clark's right-wing corner had been headed skywards.
Frustrated Wolves boss Mick McCarthy said: "I told the players that I think we should have won that game, so there's no point being in there patting each other on the back.
"There were elements of it that were really good; the determination, coming back from being down twice, having to have a real scrap because there are not many teams that are going to come to Plymouth and turn them over. That side of it was good.
"The down side of it for me was we didn't finish the chances we had and I didn't think we defended particularly well - certainly for the two goals."
