DECO CRAVES ROBINHO CAPTURE

DECO CRAVES ROBINHO CAPTURE

Deco - promises exciting football.

Deco is hoping Chelsea pull out all the stops to lure Robinho to Stamford Bridge as they attempt to provide more entertainment.

The Blues have proved ruthlessly efficient at picking up silverware in recent years, but there have been accusations from some quarters that their football lacks the allure embodied by the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal.

Owner Roman Abramovich has made no secret of his desire to see free-flowing football, but first Jose Mourinho and then his replacement Avram Grant were more pragmatic.

Current coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has said results always take precedence over entertainment, but the addition of Deco is likely to appease the tastes of Abramovich, with the mooted arrival of Robinho from Real Madrid a telling indicator of a possible change of style at Stamford Bridge.

Deco, who is well aware of the Brazilian's capabilities having played against him on numerous occasions for Barcelona, believes Robinho's signature would represent a considerable coup on Chelsea's part.

"Robinho is a spectacular player," he said.

"He's got incredible skill. He has magic and is capable of anything on a football pitch. His quality is amazing. It would be great if he joined us and he'd be made very welcome here."

While Deco agrees with his manager's mantra that winning comes first, he has vowed to help Chelsea play exciting and progressive football next season.

"Everybody wants to see good football," Deco said. "The first rule for winning football is to make sure we play well. But, for all that we'll try to play good exciting football, our opponents are always going to be trying to stop us from doing that.

"Sometimes the games won't be as spectacular as we'd like.

"That's just the way it is. But this team has players with great quality who can play high calibre football. Good quality and exciting football.

"It's the responsibility of all the players to play exciting football, but I'm more than happy to assume that role. I'll take on the role of making the football exciting very happily."
