MOWBRAY WAITS ON MEITE

MOWBRAY WAITS ON MEITE

Meite - target for West Brom.

Tony Mowbray is unsure if West Bromwich Albion's bid to sign Abdoulaye Meite is 'dead or alive'.

Bolton Wanderers have given West Brom, and fellow Premier League new boys Hull City, permission to speak to Meite.

The defender is keen to leave the Reebok Stadium and is expected to make a decision on his future in the coming days.

But Baggies boss Mowbray is uncertain if the Ivory Coast international will choose to move to the Hawthorns ahead of the KC Stadium.

"I don't know what the situation is at the moment," Mowbray told a press conference after Saturday's friendly with Mallorca.

"We've had a chat but, to be honest, I don't know whether it's dead or alive.

"Regarding the signing of players, I take things so far and then let other people at the club get on with it.

"They know my beliefs and thoughts on what we should and shouldn't do.

"If things happen, great. If they don't, good luck to these players.

"Meite remains a possibility."
