BROWN CONFIRMS GARDNER DEAL

BROWN CONFIRMS GARDNER DEAL

Gardner - set for Hull.

Hull City boss Phil Brown has confirmed the club are close to signing Tottenham defender Anthony Gardner.

The Premier League new boys have agreed an initial loan deal that could become a permanent deal for a fee of £2.5million during the January transfer window.

Gardner, who is well down the pecking order at Tottenham, is set to undergo a medical at the KC Stadium on Friday.

Brown believes the deal will be fruitful for both parties as Gardner looks to get back playing on a regular basis.

"We have been in touch with Spurs and they want a transfer fee on a permanent basis," Brown told the Hull Daily Mail.

"We've agreed a loan fee taking us to the January transfer window with a view to a permanent move.

"I think it's a win-win situation for both clubs and the player.

"Anthony seems to be surplus to requirements at his own club and we also know that Anthony wants to get back on the international scene that he was briefly on at Tottenham.

"If he's playing first-team football then one, we'll be happy; two, he'll be happy because he's playing regular first-team football, and three, Tottenham may get a reasonable fee for the player in the transfer window."
