COPPINGER CALLS FOR TECHNOLOGY
Coppinger - unhappy.
Doncaster midfielder James Coppinger is convinced he should have been awarded a goal in Rovers' 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night.
Rovers thought they had broken the deadlock 15 minutes from time when a stinging shot from Coppinger was fumbled towards goal by Forest keeper Lee Camp and appeared to cross the line, but the linesman was unmoved and no goal was given.
Coppinger insists his strike should have been awarded and believes that video evidence could be the key to stopping similar incidents from occurring in the future.
He told the club's official website: "I'm convinced it went in.
"I've hit it and he (Camp) has fumbled it. It's then looked like he's got it back from over the line. The linesman was nowhere near close enough to give it and the referee was never going to give it, so it is really disappointing."
He added: "People talk about putting videos on the line and that could be the difference between us going down or staying in this division - and that hurts."
